On April 19, PBS SoCal celebrated the success of the Re:Dream project with an evening of live performances, workshops and discussions all revolving around the American dream, how it has changed and what it means to each person.
Over 100 guests gathered at the historic Pasadena Playhouse at Re:Dream Party, a room-to-room evening of performance, music and conversation inspired by the concept of the American dream in motion.
The evening featured selected scenes from “Shelter,” a new play presented by the CalArts Center for New Performance that spotlights stories of unaccompanied minors immigrating to the United States, as well as performances by South Asian writers and musicians examining their connection to the American dream, curated by tabla artist Robin Sukhadia. Guests also wrote and shared stories in an interactive poetry workshop, explored resources from local community organizations in the “Dream Village” space, added their Dream Cards to the Dreamcatcher installation and watched Re:Dream episodes over pie and coffee.
