To Adriana Aguilar, success is enabling the growth of her community. But completing her education remains a huge obstacle.
Coming to the United States at the age of one undocumented, she always knew she was an immigrant and would need to work harder to attain her goals. Now, in her last semester of college, she works hard to find creative ways to make money for tuition so that she can pursue working in urban planning with her community.
“For me, higher education means social mobility. For me, it’s earning another tool to have access. How can I use that in my favor in order to be resilient to the situation?” Adriana said.
To Adriana, the struggle to complete her educational journey will make her parents’ journey of coming to the United States worthwhile.
