Justin Curry is pursuing his American dream by impacting people through music, because if you’re just living for yourself, you’re not living.

For Justin, if it weren’t for growing up in a family that exposed him to successful people, he wouldn’t be able to envision his own path to success. Like many recent graduates, Justin has a college degree that he isn’t using. It’s not for lack of trying; it’s for a lack of wanting. Justin began college majoring in Engineering but, after several internships, realized a life behind a desk wasn’t for him. Music became more and more his focus, so he graduated from college as quick as he could with a degree in Economics that he never intended to use.

Justin is the music director for his band, The Ministry, and he also plays in a church worship band. Before his student loan repayments kicked in, he was able to pay all his bills through those two musical occupations. He took a job in retail sales to help cover those loan payments, but even working part-time has a big impact on his music development.

“With my student loans, it really makes me look back and think, was going to college worth it? If I could go back in time, would I do the same thing? And I would wanna say…no,” Justin said.

To Justin, the American dream means supporting yourself financially while giving back, but his student loans make it difficult to break even.
